Calgary and Edmonton IT Company President Arrested

Colin Knox, President of Calgary and Edmonton IT company, XCEL Professional Services, Imprisoned for Charity on May 22^nd, 2014!

ATB Financial, the largest Alberta-based financial institution, holds an annual province-wide fundraising campaign known as “Toonie for a Teddy,” which raises funds to support the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation in Calgary and the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation in Edmonton.

On May 22^nd, 2014, Colin Knox, President of XCEL Professional Services, was arrested and locked up as part of our participation in the Toonie for a Teddy campaign. While bail was set at $3000, we’re pleased to announce that we raised $3,200 to release our company’s president and contribute to the fundraising campaign!

The funds raised will go towards:

• The Pediatric Brain Imaging Clinic at the Alberta Children’s Hospital:

The pediatric brain-imaging clinic is the first clinic in the world to leverage non-invasive brain stimulation to treat teenagers with major depressive disorder and children with stroke. The Toonie for a Teddy campaign raises funds for new technology, including MR compatible EEG systems and mock MRI scanners, as well as dedicated space for the clinic and research support.

• The Critical for Care Campaign at the Stollery Children’s Hospital:

At the moment, various inpatient units at the Stollery Children’s Hospital are overcrowded with minimal privacy. The Toonie for a Teddy campaign supports important initiatives, including ambulatory clinic expansion, the operating room redevelopment, and the critical care redevelopment.
