Colin Knox, President of Calgary and Edmonton IT company, XCEL Professional Services, Imprisoned for Charity on May 22nd, 2014!
ATB Financial, the largest Alberta-based financial institution, holds an annual province-wide fundraising campaign known as “Toonie for a Teddy,” which raises funds to support the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation in Calgary and the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation in Edmonton.
On May 22nd, 2014, Colin Knox, President of XCEL Professional Services, was arrested and locked up as part of our participation in the Toonie for a Teddy campaign. While bail was set at $3000, we’re pleased to announce that we raised $3,200 to release our company’s president and contribute to the fundraising campaign!
The funds raised will go towards:
- The Pediatric Brain Imaging Clinic at the Alberta Children’s Hospital:
The pediatric brain-imaging clinic is the first clinic in the world to leverage non-invasive brain stimulation to treat teenagers with major depressive disorder and children with stroke. The Toonie for a Teddy campaign raises funds for new technology, including MR compatible EEG systems and mock MRI scanners, as well as dedicated space for the clinic and research support.
- The Critical for Care Campaign at the Stollery Children’s Hospital:
At the moment, various inpatient units at the Stollery Children’s Hospital are overcrowded with minimal privacy. The Toonie for a Teddy campaign supports important initiatives, including ambulatory clinic expansion, the operating room redevelopment, and the critical care redevelopment.
